POST Luxembourg extends its solidarity actions in favor of refugees from Ukraine

19 March 2022

In order to facilitate and support the reception of refugees from the Ukraine in the Grand Duchy, POST Luxembourg is providing assistance in the form of free cell phone subscriptions, as well as a free bank account and payment card. These two initiatives are implemented in conjunction with the National Reception Office (Office national de l’accueil, ONA). POST Luxembourg is also providing several premises and apartments to the ONA for housing refugees.

From Monday March 21, 2022, refugees from Ukraine having a certificate of temporary protection (issued by the Directorate of immigration), can go to any POST Telecom point of sale and take advantage of a mobile subscription. This solidarity offer includes unlimited calls from Luxembourg to Ukraine, a mobile Internet volume as well as calls and SMS in Luxembourg.

To offer refugees from the Ukraine access to banking services, POST Finance has set up a simplified and accelerated account opening procedure, which also includes a Vpay payment card and unlimited withdrawals at all ATMs. To take advantage of this offer, applicants must contact ONA (5, rue Carlo Hemmer L-1734 Luxembourg-Kirchberg), which will centralize applications and arrange a meeting with a dedicated POST Finance advisor. This simplified procedure builds on an existing cooperation between POST and ONA, in place since 2016 for beneficiaries of international protection and now extended to beneficiaries of temporary protection. All administrative documents relating to this procedure have been translated into the languages appropriate for this target group.

As soon as the Immigration Department's "one-stop-shop" for refugees from Ukraine opens, POST advisors will be on hand to help beneficiaries with their paperwork.

Since February 21, 2022, POST Luxembourg has been supporting all its customers affected by current events in Ukraine by offering them free calls and SMS between Luxembourg and Ukraine. This measure, initially scheduled to run until March 31, 2022, has been extended to June 30, 2022.
