Soirée du Timbre 2021

21 October 2021

On the occasion of the Soirée du Timbre, POST Luxembourg unveiled the philatelic program for 2022 and awarded the prize for the most beautiful stamp of 2020.

This Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the Soirée du Timbre 2021 held at the Centre Culturel in Capellen, Claude Strasser, Managing Director of POST Luxembourg unveiled the winner of the "Schéinsten Timber 2020" competition.

A souvenir frame of the winning stamp in the "Rural Tourism" series was given to the Luxembourgish graphic designer Eugène Kalmus and to Justin Limpach, President of the Association pour la Promotion du Tourisme Rural (APTR). The 1st prize - an Apple iPhone 13 smartphone - was awarded to Mr. Raymond Glod, following a draw among those taking part in the public vote.

The "Rural Tourism" series, designed by Luxembourg graphic artist Eugène Kalmus, is issued over a three-year period by POST Philately under the responsibility of Emile Espen, at a rate of two designs per year. This special edition, which ends this year, promotes Luxembourg's rural tourism offering. It is produced in collaboration with the APTR (Association pour la Promotion du Tourisme rural au Grand-duché de Luxembourg).

This is a very popular stamp series, both nationally and internationally. The same stamp won POST Luxembourg the Italian "Tourism" category of the prestigious "Asiago International Philatelic Art Prize", awarded to the world's most beautiful stamps. The "Rural Tourism" series is currently one of the best-selling stamps in the POST Philately online store -  - and is also available at the philatelic counter (13, rue Robert Stümper, Cloche d'Or), as well as in all post offices.

To mark the 80th anniversary of the “Journée du timbre”, to be celebrated on October 23, 2021, at the same venue, a special stamp was presented featuring the Villa Bourg, a listed building in Capellen that houses the administration of the HMC League.

Souvenir frames with this stamp were given by POST Luxembourg Managing Director Claude Strasser to Ralph Letsch, President of the Cercle Philatélique de Mamer, the organizing club for the 2021 edition of the Journée du timbre and to Norbert Ewen, President of the HMC League.
