Conversion work begins on Hôtel des Postes in Luxembourg

02 February 2023

As part of the Hôtel des Postes conversion project in Luxembourg, presented in June 2020 by POST Luxembourg and the ARTEA Group, building permits were issued in mid-2022 and structural work began in October 2022.

These works follow on from the deconstruction of some of the more recent elements that partly occupied the inner courtyard. The aim is to enhance the cultural and architectural value of the Hôtel des Postes. In fact, the project aims to restore the building's original appearance, notably by removing the metal structures that covered the inner courtyard, as well as the central wing that separates it.

As a reminder, as part of this collaboration, POST Luxembourg and the ARTEA Group are co-investors in the conversion of the Hôtel des Postes, with 51% POST and 49% ARTEA. The building, which will remain fully owned by POST Luxembourg, will subsequently be operated by ARTEA and will house a hotel, two restaurants, a bar, shops, coworking spaces and a wellness area.

The architectural concept for the Hôtel des Postes, a listed national monument located in a UNESCO protected area, was entrusted to Romain Schmiz architectes & urbanistes, based in Luxembourg. The overall project concept was entrusted to Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel, based in Paris. This firm specializes in the design of prestigious hotel projects around the world, with numerous achievements to its credit.

While the hotel part of the project will be operated by the ARTEA Group, under their STORIA brand, the commercial and restaurant parts have not yet been awarded. The Hôtel des Postes is scheduled to open in late 2024.
