POST donates €25,000 to support LUkraine Asbl

26 July 2022

On Monday, July 25, 2022, POST Luxembourg presented a cheque for €25,000 to the non-profit organization LUkraine, to support them in their actions in Luxembourg in favor of refugees from the Ukraine and in their humanitarian aid efforts in the Ukraine. The sum is the result of all proceeds from the sale of a special issue of solidarity stamps in support of Ukrainian refugees.

The official presentation of the cheque took place in the presence of Nicolas Zharov, President of LUkraine Asbl, Inna Yaremenko, Vice-President of LUkraine Asbl, Cliff Konsbruck, Director of POST Telecom and Deputy General Manager of POST Luxembourg, and Isabelle Faber, Director of Human Resources, Public Relations & CSR at POST Luxembourg.

This special issue, launched in May 2022, comprises two stamps with a postage value of €0.80 and €1.40 for sending a standard letter within Luxembourg, respectively to international destinations - world zone 1, which includes the Ukraine.

These solidarity stamps remain available until August 31, 2022, in sheets of eight stamps, at all Espace POST and post offices, as well as in the POST Philately online store www.postphilately.lu and at the philatelic counter (13, rue Robert Stümper, Cloche d'Or). Future proceeds from the sale will be donated to the non-profit organization LUkraine.

In addition to this stamp issue, and to facilitate and support the reception of refugees from the Ukraine in the Grand Duchy, it should be remembered that POST Luxembourg has committed itself to providing aid in the form of mobile packages, as well as the provision, free of charge, of a bank account and a payment card. POST Telecom continues to offer calls and SMS between Luxembourg and Ukraine to its postpaid mobile customers until September 30, 2022. These two actions were implemented in consultation with ONA.

POST is also providing ONA with several premises and housing units to accommodate refugees.

Supported by the Amicale POST Luxembourg and in collaboration with the SAFE association, POST Technologies has also donated a 150kVa generator to the Comité d'Aide Médicale Zakarpattya in Uszhorod.
