POST launches eSIM

01 May 2020

POST Luxembourg will offer all its private and business customers eSIM technology, the latest evolution of the SIM card, from March 30, 2020.

Always keen to meet the needs of its customers, POST will make eSIM technology available to the market from March 30, 2020. This new generation of SIM card is distinguished from previous ones by its dematerialization. The chip is directly integrated into the smartphone at the time of manufacture. POST will then activate customers' cell phone services directly on the eSIM. This new technology will be available at POST Telecom sales outlets when subscribing to a mobile package for individuals and businesses.

A new digital customer experience

By offering eSIM, POST is giving its customers a new experience with their mobile product. One of the main benefits of eSIM is the ability to manage multiple plans on a single smartphone: eSIM can support multiple profiles, making it easy to associate multiple phone numbers.

Cliff Konsbruck, Director of POST Telecom, explains: "In addition to its simplified activation, eSIM enables our customers with several mobile numbers - one private and one business, for example - to use these 2 subscriptions on the same smartphone, and thus be reachable on both numbers".

In the future, the range of eSIM-enabled devices will become more widespread, and users will be able to take advantage of eSIM on their tablets, or any other connected device with this technology.

The use of this new eSIM card is not only a technological advance, but also an environmental one. In line with its CSR concerns, POST is aware that the gradual dematerialization of SIM cards will reduce the use of plastic.
